It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we make films, but for freedom, for that alone, which no honest filmmaker gives up but with life itself.
In 2013, our forefathers brought forth into this city a new covenant: that anyone in Glasgow, local or travelling, could meet up, join in, and make films together.
What that's actually meant, day to day, is simple. Nobody here asks what school you went to, who your dad knows, or how your reel compares to someone else's. If you turn up and do the work, you're already in.
You can write. You can direct. But here you also own a skill you can lend: camera, sound, lighting, production design, storyboards, producing, or driving the car and holding the reflector. That's how films get made, when we all step up and help.
“Filmmaking is a collaborative art form. No filmmaker in history ever made a film on his, or her, own.”
We believe a film belongs to everyone who helped make it, and that you measure a crew by who it lifts up, not by who it lets in.
